Why Attend?

HERS-SA is a registered non-governmental organisation that was founded in 2003 to address the critical shortage of women in senior positions in Higher Education, a major area of concern within the sector. At present, only 1 in 10 women occupy leadership positions in the Higher Education sector. For the last 15 years, HERS-SA has been providing professional leadership development opportunities for women in Higher Education in South Africa through its annual ACADEMY which has been attended by more than 1 000 women to date.

The ACADEMY is an interactive, residential professional development programme and is aimed at those women who are currently employed or possess the potential to be employed at senior management level.

It offers a unique opportunity to women to shape their own learning according to their development needs by selecting to participate in a range of plenary sessions, development workshops, breakaway activities and by selecting to attend talks by well-known leaders within the Higher Education sector from our set programme.

"The HERS-SA ACADEMY has improved my leadership skills."

"I gained a good understanding of concepts and principles in managerial skills at the HERS-SA ACADEMY."
